What does it cost to have a website?
you need a Host Company for your site which typically charge between $20 to $100 per month depending on your site's size and features. In most cases you can find a good host for $10 - $40 for smaller sites. The Host will keep your web pages accessible to the Internet and offer some additional features for example e-mail for you, shopping cart support, ftp service etc. In addition you need to keep your domain (example: www.domain.com) registered for presently about $70 for the first 3 years.
What does it Take to sell on the Internet?
You need a host that supports or offers support for a Shopping Cart program and/or offers one as part of the hosting service. Make sure the Host provides a secure connection for those services. Then your WebPages need to be designed to include all your products that should go into the Shopping Cart. Shopping Carts can be integrated with Internet Payment Services (for example CyberCash) to get credit card payments processed online. This is not mandatory and if you can process credit cards now you can continue doing this using the order entries in your site.
Can I maintain my Website myself or do I need someone?
We provide this service, however, for small sites we can show you how to do the simple tasks (like making changes) yourself.
